Being one of the important villages during the reign of the Chalukyas of Kalyani, the place was also ruled successively by the Yadavas and Hoysalas. The temple in east-west orientation is assignable to the Chalukyas of Kalyani. The presiding deity is referred to as Kalinatha in an inscription dated 1282 AD of the reign of Yadava king Ramachandra. On plan, the temple consists of a garbhagriha with an open antarala on the west and two shrines to the south and north, opening into a four-pillared sabhamandapa. The sabhamandapa is preceded by mukhamandapa in the east. The sabhamandapa is provided with square podium with pillars supporting the central Ceiling. Inside the garbhagriha is a small linga over a circular pitha.
